TonenGeneral Sekiyu KK is investigating the cause of an early morning fire that took place on Jan. 18 at its 132,000-b/d refinery in Arida City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

The fire, which broke out in a tank during cleaning operations at about 6:50 a.m. local time, was fully extinguished by 3:30 p.m., with no injuries reported as a result of the incident, TonenGeneral said.

Neither the refinery nor its associated land and marine-shipping operations were impacted by the fire, and normal operations at Wakayama remain ongoing.

TonenGeneral is cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire, as well as to determine measures to prevent the reoccurrence of similar events in the future, the company said.
