Gulfport Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, signed a definitive agreement with an unnamed third party to acquire 12,600 net undeveloped acres in northern Monroe County, Ohio, for $87 million.

The acreage, which Gulfport called the “core of the dry-gas window of the Utica shale,” lies near or next to existing company acreage (OGJ Online, June 10, 2015).

The company said it plans to fund the acquisition with cash on hand and that the transaction is expected to close by yearend.
