ExxonMobil Corp. has let a contract to Zachry Group, San Antonio, to provide a series of support services for the company’s recently announced plan to add a polyethylene (PE) unit at its 1-million tonne/year PE plant in Beaumont, Tex. (OGJ Online, Nov. 14, 2016).

As part of the contract, Zachry will deliver constructability and execution planning, electrical and instrumentation design, and direct-hire responsibilities for in-plant construction, the service provider said.

A value of the contract was not disclosed.

The 650,000-tpy PE unit will expand production of granular and pelletized PE at the Beaumont plant by 65% from current rates to help meet rising demand for high-performance plastics.

With construction on the project under way as of this quarter, the unit is due to be completed in early 2019, Zachry said.
