Etheridge becomes IHI E&C project director for Cove Point LNG

Robert Etheridge has been appointed by IHI E&C International Corp. (IHI E&C), a Houston-based wholly-owned subsidiary of IHI Corp., as project director for the Dominion Cove Point LNG export project effective immediately.

In his new role, Etheridge will work as the company’s senior site representative on the project with a focus on completions, commissioning, and engineering closeout.

He has more than 37 years of experience in project management, engineering, and construction of industrial projects on six continents. He is experienced in the planning and execution of large scale construction projects and has been responsible for many facets of project execution from award to closeout.

His experience includes work on three LNG terminal projects, eight LNG liquefaction plants, three LNG upstream projects, three ammonia-urea projects, a fluid catalytic converter unit revamp, a residual catalytic cracking unit rebuild, one ethylene plant, and three refinery expansions.

He joins IHI E&C from the Clough-AMEC joint venture in Brisbane where he worked as a construction director for the Bowen gas project. Prior to that, he worked for CB&I in Perth as construction director and for Clough Ltd. as project manager on both the Gladstone LNG upstream project and the C1 upstream infrastructure project for Papua New Guinea LNG.

Etheridge began his career as a construction engineer for Kellogg, Brown & Root Inc. (KBR) where he held various positions over 28 years. He also worked previously as senior manager of projects for Cheniere Energy Inc.
