Aydt to succeed Pierson as MPLX operations VP

Timothy J. Aydt will succeed the retiring Craig O. Pierson as vice-president of operations of MPLX LP general partner MPLX GP LLC and president of MPLX subsidiary Marathon Pipe Line LLC effective Jan. 1.

Timothy J. Aydt will succeed the retiring Craig O. Pierson as vice-president of operations of MPLX LP general partner MPLX GP LLC and president of MPLX subsidiary Marathon Pipe Line LLC effective Jan. 1.

Aydt is currently general manager, terminal, transport, and rail at Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC). In his new role, he will report to John Swearingen, MPC senior vice-president of transportation and logistics, and vice-president, crude oil and refined products pipelines of MPLX's general partner.

Aydt began his career with MPC in 1985 as a pipeline engineer. He has held senior management positions throughout the company, including assignments in marketing and transportation engineering and at MPC's refineries in Detroit and Robinson, Ill.

He was named general manager of terminal, transport, and rail in 2013 following the completion of the $2.2-billion Detroit heavy oil upgrade project where he served as project director. He will remain in Findlay.

Pierson joined Marathon in 1978 as a pipeline engineer and held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in pipeline, transportation, and logistics, and has had experience in the marketing sector. He was named vice-president of operations for Marathon Pipe Line in 2005 and assumed the role of president in 2011.
