Sharjah National Oil Corp. plans to shoot 500 sq km of 3D seismic onshore its territory in search of deep oil and gas reservoirs, the emirate of Sharjah said. The survey is expected to be completed by the end of December.

Most of the area has not been covered by 3D seismic.

In February, Dana Gas PJSC reported that Zora gas field offshore Sharjah and Ajman had started production with plans to boost flow to a planned 40 MMcfd (OGJ Online, Feb. 23, 2016). The field is producing from two wells drilled laterally into a Lower Cretaceous Thamama reservoir straddling the Sharjah-Ajman offshore boundary. In its second-quarter financial results, Dana Gas reported Zora field had produced 295,750 boe (3,250 boe/d) during the period from first production on Feb. 28. The associated gas plant was operating at a reduced capacity as commissioning was ongoing, the company said.
