Singapore Refining Co. Private Ltd. (SRC), a joint venture of PetroChina Co. Ltd. subsidiary Singapore Petroleum Co. Ltd. and Chevron Corp., has let a contract to Amec Foster Wheeler PLC (AFW) to provide front-end engineering and design for an upgrading project at its 290,000-b/d refinery on Jurong Island, Singapore.
As part of the contract, AFW will deliver FEED and detailed engineering services for an upgrade of heater efficiency at SRC’s crude and vacuum units, a project that will include the revamp of burners, an air preheater, as well as a common chimney stack, the service company said.
Alongside delivering hazard and operability (Hazop) and constructability studies, AFW’s scope of work also will cover development of an engineering, procurement, and construction management schedule for the project.
The company disclosed neither the value nor duration of the contract.
SRC also recently let contract to Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Pasadena, Calif., to provide FEED services for proposed upgrades to three of the Jurong Island catalytic reforming complex’s existing processing units, including the naphtha splitter, naphtha hydrotreater, and catalytic reformer (OGJ Online, Sept. 21, 2016).
The proposed upgrades come as part of an ongoing series of planned in-house and strategic projects at the refinery designed to ensure its long-term competitiveness, according to SPC’s web site.
