Petronas Gas Bhd. (PGB), a subsidiary of state-run Petroleum Nasional Bhd. (Petronas), is investigating the cause of an unidentified incident at its Gas Processing Kerith (GPK) complex in Kertih, Terengganu, Malaysia.
The incident, which occurred at about 3 p.m. local time on Oct. 26, resulted in the death of a contract worker undertaking maintenance at the site, Petronas said.
While Petronas disclosed no further details regarding either the precise nature of the event or the present status of operations at the complex, the company did confirm PGB currently is investigating the cause of the incident.
The GPK complex houses four gas processing trains (GPK-1 through GPK-4) equipped with the following capacities: GPK-1, 310 MMcfd; GPK-2, 250 MMcfd; GPK-3, 250 MMcfd; and GPK-4, 250 MMcfd.
PGB also operates its Gas Processing Santong (GPS) complex at the Terengganu site, which includes two processing trains (GPS-1, GPS-2), each with a nameplate capacity of 500 MMcfd.
The company did not indicate the degree to which, if any, the GPK complex incident impacted operations at the GPS complex.
