The 208-ton section 512 of ASA Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup drilling platform was hoisted into place at a shipyard belonging to Aibel in Haugesund, Norway. Aibel said this completes the first deck.
The final drilling support module will have six decks.
Phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field development consists of four platforms, and these bridges will connect all the platforms. The two flare towers will be distributed on the processing and riser platforms.
Drilling started in March on the first of a total of 35 wells to be drilled during Phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field development offshore Norway in the North Sea, Statoil said (OGJ Online, Mar. 1, 2016).
In 2018, the permanent Johan Sverdrup drilling platform will be installed as the second of four platforms.
