Henrik Lundin has been named chief operating officer of TAG Oil Ltd., where he’ll work from the company’s operations office in New Plymouth, New Zealand. The move is effective June 27.
He joins TAG after serving as a senior reservoir engineer for Lundin Petroleum AB. In that position, he focused on Brynhild and Johan Sverdrup fields offshore Norway.
Lundin began his career as a field worker and field engineer offshore Tunisia. He then worked as a petroleum-thermal engineer in Canada and Syria for Tanganyika Oil Co., moving to the role of reservoir engineer in 2009.
Separately, New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals has accepted TAG’s application for an 11-year extension for the Cheal petroleum mining permit (PMP 38156). It will now expire on July 25, 2027.
The mining permit was originally granted on July 26, 2006—covering both the shallow and deep areas of the Cheal permit—for an initial term of 10 years with a right to extend the term following delineation of reserves.
Operations on the permit are on three sites—Cheal A-Site, Cheal B-Site, and Cheal C-Site—including the Cheal production facility that has advanced oil processing and gas-liquids extraction capabilities, and an 11-km pipeline to New Zealand’s primary gas transmission pipeline.
During fiscal year 2016, the Cheal permit produced an average of 745 bbl of oil and 600 Mcfd of natural gas.
