The Energy Equipment & Infrastructure Alliance, an organization of oil and gas supply chain companies, their trade associations, and their labor unions, formed a special action group to work for regulatory approval of pipelines and other major US energy infrastructure projects.
The Pipeline Infrastructure Action Group will be made up of suppliers of construction, equipment, materials and services used in building pipelines and other energy transmission projects, EEIA said. Members of the network will be called on to speak at hearings, file comments and engage their communities in support of projects under review as they move through local and state approval proceedings, it indicated.
The new action group is a response to opposition to pipeline projects from groups whose ultimate purpose is to slow production and consumption of natural gas and petroleum products, EEIA Pres. Toby Mack said. “Literally hundreds of thousands of good jobs are at stake in having these projects move forward, along with expanding the safest and most economical way to transport our abundant supplies of oil and gas to consumers,” he noted.
The action group will focus immediately on supporting proposed pipeline projects currently under review, the organization said. It also will engage in educating federal and state policymakers and the public about the economic and employment contributions of companies in the pipeline supply chain, and the importance of pipelines in delivering affordable energy to consumers.
