Woodside Petroleum Ltd. subsidiary Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pte. has signed a heads of agreement with Indonesian state company PT Pertamina for supply of 0.5-1 million tonnes/year of LNG for 15-20 years.

The gas will come from Woodside’s portfolio of LNG production interests.

The HOA is conditional on the negotiation and execution of a fully-termed LNG sales and purchase agreement in due course and in obtaining all necessary approvals including those of both company’s boards.

In other LNG-related news, Woodside has signed a 5-year charter contract with Norwegian company Siem Offshore Australia Pty. Ltd. for Australia’s and the Southern Hemisphere’s first LNG-powered marine support vessel.

The vessel will be delivered in 2017. It will reduce greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions as well as reliance on imported diesel fuel.

The charter is in line with Woodside’s strategy of expanding the application of LNG-fueling in transportation in Western Australia. The LNG carriers transporting LNG from the North West Shelf projects have used gas boil-off from the LNG payload since the first shipments began in the 1980s.
