Russian conglomerate Sibur Holding PJSC, Moscow, has commissioned the second-phase expansion of its Vyngapurovsky gas processing plant (GPP) in northern Russia’s Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region as part of an agreement to boost capacity for handling associated petroleum gas (APG) supplies it receives from OAO NK RussNeft’s Western Siberian production fields.
In addition to boosting Vyngapurovsky GPP’s APG processing capacity to 4.2 billion cu m/year (with a recovery rate of up to 99%) from its previous 2.8 billion-cu m/year capacity, the expansion project included construction of a 114-km pipeline linking to the Varieganskaya compressor station, which also received upgrades as part of the expansion, Sibur said.
OOO Lenniikhimmash, St. Petersburg, served as general designer for the new GPP unit, while Sibur subsidiary NIPIgazpererabotka, Krasnodar, Russia, provided general design and engineering for both the pipeline construction and upgrading of the compressor station.
Total cost of the project amounted to 16 billion rubles ($238 million), said Sibur, adding that the completed expansion marks the end of its 10-year program of APG-gathering and processing infrastructure developments in West Siberia, where in recent years it has added more than 10 billion cu m/year in APG-processing capacity and more than 1,700 km of pipelines.
As of yearend 2015, Sibur’s ongoing expansion, modernization, and acquisition of gas processing, petrochemical, and transportation operations has lifted its overall APG-processing capacity to 21.5 billion cu m/year from 8.3 billion cu m/year in 2002, according to the company.
Russneft agreement
Approved in March 2014, the second-phase expansion of Vyngapurovsky GPP follows Sibur’s 2013 long-term agreement to receive APG supplies from Russneft’s production fields up to 2025, Sibur said in a Mar. 18, 2014, release.
As part of that agreement, Russneft subsidiary OAO Varioganneft will deliver Vyngapurovsky GPP a projected16 billion cu m of APG across the period from its Varioganskoye, Novo-Aganskoye and Valyuninskoye fields in Western Siberia’s Variogan block.
First commissioned by Sibur in September 2012 (OGJ, June 22, 2009, p. 50), Vyngapurovsky GPP supplies dry gas to Gazprom's gas transportation system, while NGLs are fed to the Noyabrsk loading rack and Purovsk – Tobolsk pipeline for further advanced conversion into polymers and other petrochemicals.
The GPP initially was designed to process APG it received primarily from PJSC Gazprom Neft’s production fields.
