Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), through contractor Petrofac Ltd., has let a contract to a subsidiary of Veolia Environnement SA, Paris, to provide process water treatment solutions for industrial water on PDO’s Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) oil and gas operations near Harweel in southern Oman.

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), through contractor Petrofac Ltd., has let a contract to a subsidiary of Veolia Environnement SA, Paris, to provide process water treatment solutions for industrial water on PDO’s Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) oil and gas operations near Harweel in southern Oman (OGJ Online, Nov. 7, 2005; Aug. 27, 2004).

As part of the contract, Veolia Water Technologies Gulf Veolia will support engineering and supply of water treatment systems for RHIP, which includes sour gas processing facilities, associated gathering and injection systems, and export pipelines that handle production of oil and gas from the Harweel oil reservoirs via miscible gas injection (MGI), as well as production of gas with condensate from the Rabab reservoir through partial recycling of sour gas, Veolia said.

Veolia additionally will provide treated water for different applications at the site, including boiler feed, potable water, and service water.

The service company did not disclose a value of the contract.

RHIP, which moved into its execution phase in 2014, provides an opportunity to develop 243 million bbl of oil, PDO said in its 2014 annual report, adding that the project’s total reserves addition of 560 million boe from its first phase alone is the highest booking in the company’s history.

RHIP integrates sour MGI in multiple oil reservoirs with production and pressure maintenance of a government gas condensate field.

PDO let Petrofac a contract worth more than $1 billion in 2014 to provide engineering and procurement services for RHIP, which is scheduled to be commissioned in fourth-quarter 2018 with an on stream date in 2019, PDO said.
