The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Det norske oljeselskap AS a drilling permit for well 16/1-26 S in production license 001 B offshore Norway. The well will be drilled by the Maersk Interceptor drilling facility.
The drilling program for the 16/1-26 S well follows a previously drilled appraisal well on the eastern portion of the 16/1-7 oil discovery in the central North Sea. The discovery is part of Ivar Aasen field, operated by Det norske with 34.7862% interest.
Other Ivar Assen license holders are Statoil Petroleum AS with 41.4730%, Bayerngas Norge AS 12.3173%, Wintershall Norske AS 6.4615%, VNG Norge AS 3.023%, Lundin Norway AS 1.385%, and OMV (Norge) AS 0.554%.
This is the eleventh exploration well to be drilled within the license area and the 15th well on Ivar Aasen. Production license 001 was awarded on Sept. 1 1965, as part of Norway’s Round 1-A. Production license 001 B was carved out of production license 001 on Sept. 1, 1999.
NPD says the permit is contingent on Det norske securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing drilling activities.
