Operator Statoil ASA has two contracts for subsea front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the Trestakk discovery subsea tieback to the Asgard A floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in the Norwegian Sea.
Aker Solutions announced in January that it would provide FEED studies for the Trestakk subsea tieback and a separate concept study to develop low-pressure production solutions to Asgard A.
Forsys Subsea, a joint venture of FMC Technologies and Technip, has announced it has been awarded a FEED study including umbilicals, riser, flowlines, and subsea production system installed from the wellhead to Asgard A riser hang-off with a key focus on optimizing the development phase of Trestakk.
Discovered in 1986 by the 6406/3-2 well, Trestakk lies in 300 m of water in the Norwegian Sea just south of Asgard. The discovery was further delineated by well 6406/3-4 and identified oil in Middle Jurassic sandstones in the Garn formation. The top of the reservoir lies at a depth of 3,885 m, and it was deposited in a shallow marine environment with calcite cemented intervals.
