Culpepper named president of Shell Oil

Bruce Culpepper has been named US country chair of Royal Dutch Shell and president of Shell Oil Co., succeeding Marvin Odum, who will leave the company at the end of March.

Bruce Culpepper has been named US country chair of Royal Dutch Shell PLC and president of Shell Oil Co., succeeding Marvin Odum, who will leave the company at the end of March.

Culpepper is executive vice-president, human resources, unconventional resources, and regional coordination. Odum, a Shell employee since 1982, became Shell Oil president in 2008.

Shell is closing its Unconventional Resources Directorate. The Athabasca Oil Sands Project and Scotford Upgrader in Alberta will become part of its global downstream organization under Downstream Director John Abbott. Its shale resources business will join the global upstream organization under Upstream Director Andy Brown.
