Matthew Kay has been chosen to serve as chief executive officer of Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide. Kay will succeed Neil Gibbins, currently Beach’s acting chief executive officer.
Most recently Kay served as executive general manager, strategy and commercial, at Oil Search Ltd. Kay joined Oil Search in 2014 after 12 years for Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Perth. Before that, he worked for 5 years for Santos Ltd., Adelaide.
Kay’s appointment to CEO will be effective July 17.
Beach has recently completed a successful merger with fellow Cooper basin explorer Drillsearch Energy Ltd., Sydney, and appears to be keen to continue the acquisition and merger trail (OGJ Online, Oct. 23, 2015).
