Chris Cox has been named head of exploration and production for Centrica PLC. Cox has worked for BG Group, Chevron Corp., and Amerada Hess in North Sea operating roles.
Cox will succeed Sarwjit Sambhi, who has been managing director of E&P since June of 2013. Sambhi will now lead Centrica’s UK home business unit, which has more than 22 million British Gas customer accounts.
A Centrica strategic review and reorganization is reducing the number of business units from three to two, effective in April.
Cetrica Chief Executive Officer Iain Conn said the company is “working to strengthen [its] E&P business in the face of weak commodity prices.”
