Hebei Haiwei Group Co. Ltd. has let a contract to CB&I, Houston, to provide technology licensing and engineering design for a polypropylene (PP) unit to be built in Jingxian, Hebei Province, China.

CB&I will supply its proprietary Novolen technology for the PP unit, which will have a production capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year, the service provider said.

CB&I did not disclose a value of the contract or a timeframe for the project’s commissioning.

This latest contract follows a previous contract award from Hebei Haiwei to CB&I to provide basic engineering design as well as licensing for its proprietary CATOFIN technology for a grassroots propane dehydrogenation unit (PDU) at the same site, according to an Aug. 28, 2012, press release from CB&I.

The PDU, which is to have propylene production capacity of 500,000 tpy, was scheduled for startup in 2015, CB&I said.

Hebei Haiwei completed installation of the PDU’s product separation column on Jan. 11, 2015, according to the Chinese operator’s most recent update on the project, issued on Mar. 26, 2015.
