Poyuanne became CEO in October 2014 after the death in a Moscow aircraft accident of Christophe de Margerie, who was then also chairman (OGJ Online, Oct. 22, 2014). Desmarest, who had been CEO until 2007, succeeded de Margerie as chairman.
