Statoil ASA has submitted to Norwegian authorities the plan for development and operation (PDO) of Oseberg Vestflanken 2 in the North Sea.
The project covers the Alpha, Gamma, and Kappa oil and gas structures about 8 km northwest of the Oseberg field center (OGJ Online, Feb. 23, 2015).
The development will consist of an unmanned wellhead platform with 10 well slots in 110 m of water. Two existing subsea wells will be re-used. Wells will be remote-controlled from the Oseberg field center, and the well stream will be routed to the field center via a new pipeline.
Production startup is scheduled for second quarter 2018. Statoil said the project will add 110 million boe with an estimated life through 2040.
“Oseberg Vestflanken 2 meets the current cost challenges and higher efficiency requirements with an innovative concept based on simplification,” said Ivar Aasheim, senior vice-president.
Operator Statoil has 49.3%. Partners are Petoro 33.6%, Total SA 14.7%, and ConocoPhillips 2.4%.
