Lundin Malaysia BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lundin Petroleum AB, has started drilling the Imbok-1 exploration well on Blocks SB307 and SB308 offshore Sabah, East Malaysia.

The Imbok prospect is in shallow water and lies to the east and south of two major producing fields offshore East Malaysia. The well will target hydrocarbons in Miocene aged sands.

Imbok-1 will be drilled in 1,700 m of water using the West Prospero jack up rig. It is expected to take 30 days. The same rig recently completed drilling the Mengkuang-1 well on offshore Block PM307. The well encountered 9 m of gas pay in the I-35 group Miocene channel sands (OGJ Online, Oct. 2, 2015).

Lundin Malaysia holds 85% working interest in SB307 and SB308. Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. holds the remaining interest. Lundin Malaysia operates seven blocks in Malaysia: PM307, PM319, PM308A, PM308B, PM328, SB307/308, and SB303.
