Woodside Petroleum Ltd. has let two geotechnical site investigation contracts to geosciences company Benthic for work offshore Western Australia.
The first is for work at the site of the proposed floating LNG project for the Torosa, Brecknock and Calliance gas fields in the Browse basin. The second is for the Greater Enfield Development project further south in the Carnarvon basin.
Benthic plans to use its Portable Remotely Operated Drill (PROD3) equipment with support from the vessel Jaya Vigilant.
The Browse investigations will include in-situ testing and sampling to identify bottom sediment conditions and evaluate the geotechnical properties. PROD3 will operate in water as deep as 620 m and penetrate up to 35 m below the seabed. The work will begin within the next few weeks.
This will be followed by a similar operation at Greater Enfield.
Benthic has completed previous contracts for Woodside in the Browse fields and adjacent areas.
