The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) will work with its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members on a joint industry project to advance enhanced oil recovery technology proposals for the Persian Gulf region.

The decision came after discussions at a recent Abu Dhabi summit where members looked at more than 100 priority areas for the Middle East.

ITF’s GCC concluded that collaborating on programs that drive gas, chemical, and thermal injection technologies will prove to be critical in mature fields that have considerable residual hydrocarbons.

A full hybrid EOR proposal will be put forward at the GCC’s annual meeting in March, when members will have the opportunity to invest in joint-venture projects.

“We are now at a stage where companies are collaborating with ITF and with each other to get to the heart of the challenges facing the Middle East, said ITF CEO Patrick O’Brien. “The hybrid EOR focus area has provoked a lot of interest and discussion and we hope to see this process come to fruition next March.”

ITF is an oil and gas industry technology facilitator that has launched more than 200 joint industry projects. It currently has a membership of 30 global operators and service companies.
