Saudi Aramco reported signing three contracts for construction of the Fadhili gas processing plant north of Jubail (OGJ Online, Dec. 20, 2013).

Inlet and gas treatment facilities will be built by Tecnicas Reunidas. The Spanish firm also has a contract for process utilities. The third contract went to Petrofac International Ltd. (UAE) for construction of sulfur recovery units.

The plant will process 2 bcfd of Hasbah nonassociated gas and 500 MMcfd of Khursaniyah nonassociated gas (OGJ Online, Sept. 6, 2013; Sept. 5, 2008).

It is expected to produce 1.5 bcfd of sales gas, 4,000 tonnes/day of sulfur, and 470 MMcfd of gas to fuel an adjacent cogeneration plant that will provide power and steam for the gas plant and export 1,100 Mw of power.

The company said the gas plant “will become a key component of the kingdom’s master gas system,” which is intended to expand sales gas to 12.2 bcfd by 2021 from the current 9.3 bcfd.
