A Kinder Morgan Inc. subsidiary plans a binding open season to solicit interest an expansion of its Mier-Monterrey natural gas pipeline in northern Mexico.

The project would loop the 85-mile pipeline between Starr County, Tex., and Monterrey to boost capacity to 1.34 bcfd. It also would add a lateral between Pesqueria and Escobedo, both in Nuevo Leon.

Kinder Morgan Gas Natural de Mexico S. de RL de CV owns and operates the pipeline, which began delivering gas to a power plant and the Pemex transportation system in 2003 (OGJ Online, Mar. 25, 2003).

The expansion would be complete by fourth-quarter 2017. The open season period is Aug. 13-22.
