Canada’s National Energy Board has approved an application by Orca LNG Ltd., Cypress, Tex., for a 25-year natural gas export license (OGJ Online, July 16, 2015).
The approved export point is at the outlet of the loading arm of a liquefaction terminal to be located in the vicinity of Prince Rupert, BC.
The approval has a maximum term quantity of 901 billion cu m, with a maximum quantity in any 12-month period not exceeding 38.06 billion cu m/year.
NEB determined that the quantity of gas proposed to be exported by Orca LNG is surplus to Canadian needs.
NEB said it is satisfied that Canada’s gas resource base, and the overall gas resource base in North America, “can accommodate reasonably foreseeable Canadian demand.”
