The US Bureau of Land Management released adraft environmental assessment for Noble Energy Inc.’s proposal to develop as many as 89 oil wells in Colorado’s Denver-Julesburg basin. The 7,986-acre project area is in a part of the D-J basin where oil and gas have been developed over several decades, it noted.

The Houston independent producer would drill from 14 multiwell pads and an existing well pad from which multiple wells would be drilled, BLM’s Royal Gorge Field Office in Canon City said July 29.

It said Noble has proposed constructing well pads and associated infrastructure, including roads, pipelines, centralized production facilities (called EcoNodes), and water supply wells needed to horizontally drill their leases within the project area.

Of these wells, 63 new wells would target a combination of private and federal mineral estate and 26 new wells would target only private mineral estate, the notice said. Comments will be accepted through Aug. 28, it indicated.
