Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has concluded drilling well 3-BRSA-1296-SES in the BM-SEAL-10 concession of the Sergipe basin, confirming the presence of light oil with reservoirs showing good porosity and permeability.

The well, drilled 94 km off Aracaju in the Brazilian state of Sergipe and 10 km from the discovery well, encountered two light oil intervals with total thickness of 24 m, reaching a final depth of 6,060 m in 2,988 m of water.

This is the third extension well in the Moita Bonita area, discovered in 2012 (OGJ Online, Dec. 5, 2012), and is part of the Segipe-Alagoas basin deepwater exploration project.

The second well, 3-BRSA-1244-SES, drilled 5 miles from the discovery well, confirmed the presence of 40-m thick reservoirs with good permeability and porosity conditions (OGJ Online, Aug. 22, 2014).

Petrobras says it will proceed with the discovery evaluation plan. The company holds 100% interest in BM-SEAL-10.

The company in January confirmed the continuation of a light oil accumulation in turbidite sandstone in the Sergipe basin’s Muriu area (OGJ Online, Jan. 9, 2015).
