Production has begun from deepwater Cinguvu oil field, the second field to be brought onstream at the West Hub project on Block 15/06 offshore Angola.

Eni SPA, the operator, said Cinguvu and Sangos fields are flowing 60,000 b/d of oil through the N’Goma floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. It expects the rate to increase to 100,000 b/d, the FPSO’s treatment capacity, when Mpungi field stats up in this year’s fourth quarter. The West Hub project includes two other fields, Mpungi North and Vandumbu. Water depths are 1,000-1,500 m.

Sangos field started up last November (OGJ Online, Dec. 8, 2014). Future discoveries can be tied to the FPSO. Eni said exploration continues on the block, where it estimates it has found 3 billion bbl of oil in place.

Eni holds a 35% interest in Block 15/06. Sonangol Pesquisa e Producao, a unit of concessionaire Sonangol EP, also holds 35%. Other interests are SSI Fifteen Ltd. 25% and Falcon Oil Holding Angola SA 5%.
