The first phase of Nasr oil field offshore Abu Dhabi will be producing 22,000 b/d by yearend, according to United Arab Emirates news agency WAM.

Oil flow began on Jan. 24 with the first well flowing at 6,000 b/d. Oil is transported by subsea pipeline to Das Island for storage and export.

Phase one includes two wellhead towers, a manifold tower, and solar-powered control systems. Facilities are remotely operated from Umm Shaif super complex.

Nasr is expected to produce 65,000 b/d at peak after full-field development. Contracts for the second phase were awarded last year by Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co. (OGJ Online, Nov. 14, 2014).

Nasr is about 130 km northwest of Abu Dhabi city.
