Karve joins Cobalt for Cameia development

Shashank V. Karve has joined Cobalt International Energy Inc. as executive vice-president in charge of development of deepwater Cameia oil field on Block 21 offshore Angola.

Shashank V. Karve has joined Cobalt International Energy Inc. as executive vice-president in charge of development of deepwater Cameia oil field on Block 21 offshore Angola (OGJ Online, Aug. 1, 2012).

He previously was chairman and chief executive officer of MODEC International Inc.

Cobalt plans to develop the field, which lies in 5,500 ft of water, with a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The company, based in Houston, operates Block 21 with a 40% working interest. State-owned Sonangol owns the remainder.
