The Antelope-5 appraisal well on PRL 15 in Papua New Guinea has intersected the top reservoir at 1,534 m, 230-m higher than operator Total SA’s reference case, InterOil Corp. reported on Feb. 16.
Casing has been set, and the partners plan to drill ahead to evaluate the reservoir. After reaching total depth, an extended well test will be conducted with pressure gauges monitoring pressure drawdown in other appraisal wells to get a better idea of reservoir connectivity and productivity, InterOil says.
Antelope-5 is 1.8 km from Antelope-3 and is appraising the western extent of the Elk-Antelope field.
Last week, InterOil won its dispute with Oil Search Ltd. over preemptive rights in Elk-Antelope gas field (OGJ Online, Feb. 11, 2015).
