TransAtlantic Petroleum Ltd., Dallas, says it successfully completed the Dadas interval at a vertical depth of 9,650 ft in the Molla area of southeast Turkey.
TransAtlantic performed a single-stage vertical frac of the Dadas interval in its wholly owned Bahar-6 well. The Dadas interval stimulated is 640 ft above the Bedinan interval. TransAtlantic says the Dadas interval is geologically equivalent to the Woodford (SCOOP) or Marcellus formations in the US (OGJ Online, Sept. 15, 2014).
After stimulating the well with more than 1,800 bbl of fluid and 91,000 lbs of proppant, the isolated Dadas interval had stable, 24-hr initial production of 800 bbl of 35° gravity oil and 500 Mcf at 350 PSI on a 24/64-in. choke. The company will flow the isolated Dadas interval for several days before commingling production with the Bedinan intervals and installing production equipment.
“We expect this successful Dadas completion to accelerate our plans to drill horizontally in the interval in 2015,” said N. Malone Mitchell III, TransAtlantic chairman and chief executive officer.
The company bought into the region in 2008, drilled its first deep tests in 2010, and attempted to land its first horizontal in the Dadas in 2012 (OGJ Online, Sept. 26, 2012).
