Partners in the Santos Ltd.-led GLNG project in Queensland has installed the final module on its two-train LNG processing facility being constructed by Bechtel on Curtis Island in central coastal Queensland.

It was the last of 11 modules used to build the two trains. Train 1 contains 82 modules; train 2 has 29 modules.

All the modules were constructed in Batangas in the Philippines and shipped individually to the Curtis Island site.

The installation represents a key milestone for the coal seam gas-LNG project operated by Santos in joint venture with Malaysia’s Petronas, France’s Total SA, and South Korea’s Kogas.

Final pipework and cabling will now take place before commissioning of the whole LNG plant begins towards yearend.

Once in full production the plant will produce 7.8 million tonnes/year of LNG.
