Petronas unit lets EPC contract for RAPID project

Petronas Refinery & Petrochemical Corp. unit PRPC Utilities & Facilities Sdn. Bhd. has let an engineering, procurement, and construction management contract for the Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project to a joint venture of Technip and Fluor Corp.

Petronas Refinery & Petrochemical Corp. unit PRPC Utilities & Facilities Sdn. Bhd. has let an engineering, procurement, and construction management contract for the Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project to a joint venture of Technip SA and Fluor Corp.

The project, to start up in early 2019, is in the state of Johor. Under the contract, the Fluor-Technip JV will be responsible for utilities, interconnecting, and offsites (UIO) scope of work.

Petronas R&P is a company under the umbrella of Malaysian state oil and gas company Petronas.

RAPID is part of Petronas’s Pengerang integrated complex development consisting of RAPID and its associated facilities including the Pengerang cogeneration, LNG regasification, air separation, and raw water supply as well as other ancillary facilities.

RAPID will consist of a 300,000-b/d refinery and petrochemical complex with a combined capacity of to produce 7.7 million tonnes/year of various grades of products, including differentiated and specialty chemicals products.
