MARKET WATCH: Crude oil futures climb again in waffling markets

The New York Mercantile Exchange December crude oil contract increased $1.57/bbl on Oct. 23, closing at $82.09/bbl. The January 2015 contract increased $1.62 to $81.75/bbl.

The New York Mercantile Exchange December crude oil contract increased $1.57/bbl on Oct. 23, closing at $82.09/bbl. The January 2015 contract increased $1.62 to $81.75/bbl.

The natural gas contract for November fell 3.7¢ to a rounded $3.62/MMbtu. The cash gas price at Henry Hub, La., was $3.60/MMbtu, losing 8¢.

Heating oil for November delivery was up 2.56¢ to a rounded $2.50/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for November delivery gained 5.13¢ to a rounded $2.21/gal.

The December ICE contract for Brent crude oil rose $2.12, closing at $86.83/bbl. The January 2015 contract rose a hair higher at $2.13 to $87.21/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for November edged down 25¢ to settle at $741.50/tonne.

The average price for OPEC’s basket of 12 benchmark crudes was $81.67/bbl on Oct. 23, down 27¢.
