The US Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on a proposed 3D seismic exploration project in Sweetwater County, Wyo. BLM will prepare an environmental assessment of the proposed project and accept comments to help identify potential issues, concerns, ideas, and alternatives until Oct. 17, its Rawlins field office said.

Green River Energy Resources Inc., Las Vegas, submitted the proposal on Aug. 5 on behalf of Tulsa-based WPX Energy Inc. for the 154.45-sq-mile Washakie 3D geophysical survey about 50 miles southeast of Rock Springs.

The project would involve vibroseis and dynamite shot hole methods in a grid pattern on mixed BLM, state, and private land, the field office said in an Oct. 3 notice. Helicopter, utility terrain vehicle, and pick-up truck use would be dictated by topography and BLM-designated avoidance areas, it said.

If approved, operations would commence in early 2015 and be completed that fall, the notice said.
