Cairn India Ltd. has appointed Mayank Ashar as managing director and chief executive officer, effective Nov. 17.
Ashar will succeed Sudhir Mathur, who has been in an interim role since the May resignation of P. Elango as interim chief executive officer (OGJ Online, May 9, 2014).
Ashar has more than 36 years of experience and has served in various senior management and executive roles for BP PLC, Petro-Canada, Suncor Energy Inc. and Irving Oil Ltd.
Chairman Navin Agarwal said, “[Ashar’s] appointment comes at a critical phase when Cairn India is focused on delivering the next level of growth from its world-class Rajasthan asset and other assets.”
