Devon Canada Corp. has submitted applications with Canada’s Alberta Energy Regulator for its Walleye steam-assisted gravity drainage project.

The site, about 35 km northwest of Cold Lake, would include a central processing facility and wells for thermal injection, production, and disposal.

Devon anticipates total bitumen production capacity of 9,000 b/d from the Lower General petroleum formation.

AER said the Devon applications are under the Oil Sands Conservation Act and the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.

Pending regulatory approval, construction is expected to begin in 2015, with initial production in 2016.
