Fire breaks out at West Texas refinery

Western Refining Inc. has extinguished a fire that occurred early on July 23 in a boiler at its 128,000-b/d refinery at El Paso, Tex.

Valves controlling the crude oil supply to the boiler quickly were isolated, and the fire, which broke out about 8:30 a.m.  CST at a boiler in the proximity of other structures on the property, was brought under control and extinguished by Western Refining’s on-site fire and emergency personnel just after 9:00 a.m. CST, according to El Paso Fire Department postings to Twitter.

Details regarding the status of current operations at the refinery have not been disclosed.
