ExxonMobil Corp. is investigating a fire that occurred on June 13 at its 60,000-b/d refinery in Billings, Mont.
The small fire, which broke out in an unidentified processing unit at the plant, was quickly extinguished, with no injuries caused as a result of the incident, Jill Quade, refinery services and human resources manager for the Billings refinery, told OGJ via e-mail.
Refinery emergency response was immediate, and no offsite impacts have been associated with the incident, Quade added.
A cause of the fire has not been determined, but an investigation is under way, according to Quade.
Further details regarding the current status of operations at the refinery or potential impacts to production were not disclosed.
The June 13 fire at ExxonMobil’s Billings plant comes just days after a fire broke out at Phillips 66’s 59,000-b/d Billings refinery (OGJ Online, June 12, 2014).
