The US Bureau of Land Management’s Vernal, Utah, field office is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment it conducted of Koch Exploration Co. LLC’s proposal to drill up to 135 natural gas wells in eastern Utah.

Koch Exploration proposed drilling the wells on as many as 37 existing well pads on underlying federal leases it holds in the Wild Horse Bench area about 40 miles southwest of Vernal, the field office said.

It said the activity would disturb 340 acres of land, and require upgrading 14.4 miles of pipelines to accommodate anticipated future production.

Comments will be accepted until July 10, the notice said.
