BLM approves Noble’s eastern Nevada exploration drilling plans

The US Bureau of Land Management approved Noble Energy Inc.’s plan to drill exploratory oil and gas wells in the Tabor Flats area about 4 miles northwest of Wells, Nev., BLM’s Wells field office announced.

The Houston independent plans to drill as many as 20 wells on public and private land on part of its Mary’s River oil and gas exploration lease, according to a June 10 record of decision issued by the Wells field office in BLM’s Elko District.

Noble has identified 35 potential well pad locations, 20 of which may be constructed over 2 years or longer, the notice said. The project area includes 39,445 acres, including 20,622 on public land (52% of the project area), 2,603 (7%) of private surface with BLM-administered subsurface mineral rights, and 16,220 (41%) of private lands and minerals.
