MARKET WATCH: Crude oil, natural gas futures have down day

The energy commodities markets had a down day Mar. 11.

The New York Mercantile Exchange April crude oil contract fell $1.09 on Mar. 11, closing at $100.03/bbl. The May contract lost $1 to settle at $99.59/bbl.

The April natural gas contract gave up 4.6¢ to a rounded $4.61/MMbtu. On the US spot market, the gas price at Henry Hub was up 3.8¢ to a rounded $4.67/MMbtu.

Heating oil for April delivery dropped less than a penny to a rounded $2.96/gal. Reformulated gasoline stock for oxygenate blending for April delivery was up 1.76¢ to a rounded $2.97/gal.

In London, the April ICE contract for Brent crude delivery rose 47¢, closing at $108.55/bbl. The May contract gained 37¢ to close at $107.88/bbl. The ICE gas oil contract for March edged up 50¢ to $908.75/tonne.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries reported its basket of 12 benchmark crudes was $104.38/bbl on Mar. 11, losing 10¢.
