Empire names chief executive officer

Empire Oil & Gas NL, Claremont, Western Australia, has selected Ken Aitken as its chief executive officer. He will assume the position in May.

Aitken is currently general manager, operations and engineering, at New Standard Energy, where he manages all operated asset activities with joint venture partners ConocoPhillips and PetroChina Co. Ltd.

Prior to his current position, Aitken served as Western Australia business unit manager-asset manager at Origin Energy, during which time the company discovered and developed the Perth basin’s Redback gas field.
