Kosmos appoints chairman, chief executive officer

Kosmos Energy Ltd. has named Andrew G. Inglis as chairman and chief executive officer, effective Mar. 1.

Kosmos Energy Ltd. has named Andrew G. Inglis as chairman and chief executive officer, effective Mar. 1.

Brian F. Maxted, chief executive officer since 2011 and a founding partner of Kosmos, will serve as chief exploration officer and continue to serve on the board. He previously served as chief operating officer.

With Inglis’ appointment, John Kemp III, Kosmos’ current chairman, will retire from the board and from his consulting position with the company.

Inglis joined Petrofac Ltd. in January 2011 after 30 years with BP PLC, most recently as chief executive officer of its exploration and production business. He served as an executive director on BP’s board during 2007-10.

From 2004-07, he was BP’s executive vice-president and deputy chief executive of E&P, with responsibility for BP’s growth areas, including Azerbaijan, Angola, Algeria, the Gulf of Mexico, Egypt, Trinidad, and the Asia-Pacific region.
