Kitimat LNG partner Chevron Canada Ltd. has awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the proposed LNG export project to a joint venture of Fluor and JGC. Apache Canada Ltd. is the other equal-interest partner with Chevron for the Bish Cove, BC, project.

The project scope includes completion of the existing frontend engineering and design package and detailed engineering and procurement for the initial phases of the project.

Chevron Canada completed its 50% interest in Kitimat LNG earlier this year along with half interests in the proposed Pacific Trail Pipeline and in 644,000 acres in the Horn River and Liard basins in BC (OGJ Online, July 10, 2013; OGJ, Jan. 7, 2013, p. 42).

The two-train Kitimat LNG project targets start-up in 2016; its National Energy Board license allows export of as much as 10 million tonnes/year of LNG.
