Statoil ASA has named Arne Sigve Nylund as executive vice-president, development and production Norway (DPN), effective Jan. 1, 2014. Nylund will report to Helge Lund, the company’s chief executive officer.

Nylund since 2009 has served as senior vice-president, processing and manufacturing in marketing, processing, and renewable energy. His appointment follows the transition of Oystein Michelsen, who currently holds the position, tocountry manager in Tanzania (OGJ Online, Nov. 1, 2013).

Nylund joined Statoil in 1987 as the operatorship of Statfjord was transferred from Mobil. He has experience in various operational and leadership positions, including platform manager at Gullfaks, operations manager at Statfjord, and senior vice-president for Statfjord operations and operations west in DPN.

Statoil said Nylund’s successor will be announced in the near future.

Lund expressed his optimism regarding exploration in Norway in October when he stated, “Norway has more to give. We have an ambition of producing as much in 2020 as we do now in Norway (OGJ Online, Oct. 14, 2013).”
